Mark Zuckerberg 

Mark Zukerberg is an American business tycoon. He is known for co-founding a social media platform, Facebook, and also currently serves as the chief executive officer, and majority shareholder of Meta Platforms (previously known as Facebook, Inc.). 

Professional background 

Zuckerberg launched “Thefacebook” on February 4, 2004. Back in 2004, Zukerberg started thefacebook.com in collaboration with his roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. 

In February 2004, a month after Zuckerberg debuted Facebook, in the same year in August 2004 Zuckerberg came in partnership with Andrew McCollum, Adam D’Angelo, and Sean Parker and introduced a rival peer-to-peer file-sharing service called Wirehog. Zuckerberg is also a board member of Breakthrough Starshot, a solar sail spacecraft development project which he co-founded in 2016. 

In 2013, Zuckerberg initiated Internet.org, as a project to give Internet access to five billion people. Notably, Meta CEO faces heavy backlash in India on the matter of Net neutrality. In February 2016, Internet.org was discontinued in India; however, Mark Zuckerberg met with Prime minister Modi later to discuss potential alternatives. Zuckerberg is also a board member of Breakthrough Starshot, a solar sail spacecraft development project which he co-founded in 2016.
